John Henry Newman, founder of the Birmingham Oratory, was one of the most significant theologians of the 19th century. Long after his death in 1890, his work significantly shaped Vatican II and continues to be an inspiration to Catholics and many other Christians everywhere.
On Sunday, October 13 in Rome Pope Francis will canonize Blessed John Henry Cardinal Newman. In order to commemorate this important moment in the life of the universal Church, the Brooklyn Oratory will host a Solemn Vespers and reception for the Oratory’s newest saint.
